Homemade Pizza!

Homemade Pizza!

This is a super fun way to cook with friends (or your kids)!  We get our dough from Brooklyn’s Pizzeria downtown (they have the easiest dough to work with in town), but you can also make your own dough or buy store brands (like Boboli whole wheat pre-made dough!).  Pizza this way is DELICIOUS and loads healthier than ordering in or picking up.  We slice up a whole bunch of toppings and guests get to dress up a section of the pizza however they like (but we all share in the end)!

Ingredients:

  • Ball of dough (or pre-made dough)
  • pizza sauce (best to make your own, but if buying store bought make sure to get one that is low in sodium!)
  • toppings (we chose to use: mushrooms, orange and red bell peppers, basil, low sodium turkey kielbasa, onions, crushed garlic, and feta cheese).
  • cheese

Preheat oven to 4oo degrees.  Pour a small amount of flour onto a pizza pan or regular pan.  Play with the dough in your hands, pulling it outward from the center, and eventually place it over the flour and roll (with a roller or your hands) out the dough until it is the size that you want!  Cover the dough with sauce, place whatever toppings you like (remember to make it colorful!), add some cheese, and stick it in the oven for 18-20 minutes!  Enjoy!  We paired this with a nice salad and it was perfect!
